Top tips for a successful morning routine.

Setting yourself up for success starts with your morning routine.

For starters, we prefer non-negotiables to routine. This allows flexibility and variation (within limits) whilst still achieving the desired outcome. For the purposes of this blog, we’ll stick with what you know!

A morning routine for a productive day should be focused on making the day as effective as possible.

Starting the day with good morning habits will set you up for a productive day. We have taken practices from wealthy and successful people to make our morning routines as efficient as possible. By joining our coaching programmes, we’ll help you create healthy habits and find peak performance, find out more here.

Waking Up Right

We are going to throw a spanner in the works right from the start.

There are a lot of people talking about waking up at 5:00 a.m. to have the perfect productive start to your morning routine. However, we believe you need to think about how your body works and what your day-to-day life entails. For example, are you a night owl or an early bird? Do you work early or late shifts? Make sure your routine suits you. You don’t need to join the 5 a.m. club to be successful.

If you are productive at night then let your body work at that time. It will be a lot better than forcing yourself to work first thing in the morning.

That being said there are definitely some things we believe you should do as soon as you wake up –

  1. Don’t press snooze – The worst button ever created! It’s a failure button and you don’t really want the first thing in your day to be a failure, do you? Well, it’s not exactly a great start if you fail to get out of bed.
  2. Make your bed – This is a small win and once done you’ve completed your first task of the day, result!

Pretty simple hey? Well, there are some more actions we can take…

What’s the colour of your wee after you wake? Is it dark yellow? You have just gone 7-9 hours without water so it’s important to hydrate within 15 minutes of waking up. Drinking water early in the morning, on an empty stomach, clears all the waste from the body and makes you feel hungry. It can also help prevent tiredness and fatigue. Start with 250ml and then build to 500ml.

Get Moving

Stretch, walk, run, yoga, dance, skip or squat or whatever your fitness poison is.

Getting movement in early in the day will get the blood pumping around the body, help to kickstart your metabolism, get your mind overcoming battles early on and also add to your productivity levels. Plus, it’ll make you feel great.

Meditation

We all thought meditation was all woo woo but practicing every day is such a game changer.

To get started, we recommend using CALM or HEADSPACE.

What do you gain from meditation? Well, mental clarity, more focus etc. but you also lose/reduce a lot, like anxiety, stress, and judgment of yourself and others. It also helps to build resilience and allows you to be more present throughout the day.

How about…

Affirmations – “the power of out-loud positive thinking and self-empowerment” – promoting a positive mental attitude towards something. Or how you get your charisma score to go up.

The cold shower – increases your body’s state of alertness, the cold also stimulates you to take deeper breaths, causing you to replace the CO2 in your body with fresh Oxygen.

Reading or Audiobooks – Learn and be inspired with content that will help you grow and get you closer towards your goal and desired outcome.

Get outside – Getting sunshine and natural daylight exposure especially early in the morning, can help to balance your internal body clock, regulate your circadian rhythm, and balance your overall energy levels.

There’s lots to go at here but set your non-negotiables and follow them. Stay consistent and you will reap the rewards, we promise.
